Our work on this high pressure network required the installation of new polyethylene pipes to replace the existing infrastructure. The project required a wide range of capabilities and skills, including insertion, open cut trenching and pipe splitting. The renewal work was completed on time and on budget, and is an excellent example of our innovative approach to infrastructure solutions.
Pass on my thanks and appreciation to the Diona and Metro Utilities teams involved in mains replacement work at Fulham Gardens
n accordance with APA procedures, and particularly the Concrete Cutting Prior to Excavation Flowchart process, the Metro Utilities crew made a decision to isolate gas supply prior to cutting concrete due to concerns over a possible shallow service within a Multi User site based on readings from the locator. Following cutting and removal of the concrete multiple instances of shallow gas services were found within the unit site and the concut blade did actually contact the isolated gas service at Unit 6. The proactive actions of the crew to isolate gas supply prior to cutting the concrete prevented this becoming a Level 3 asset strike and exposing the workers to a hazardous situation. It also reinforces our belief that every asset strike is preventable.
